The Realm of Reading and Change

So my plans changed the other night but I did end up seeing the Ugly Truth on Monday night with the Mahtomedi girls and it was hilarious. Laura and I discussed it afterward and came to the conclusion that it was nothing like we thought but still really good. I LOVED Katherine Heigel - she was great as well as Gerard Butler. For a person with a dirty mind the whole plot one laugh after another and I totally recommend it - but don't take your mother ;).

So Tomorrow is Relay for Life. While I'm really excited for the event itself - I am not so excited for everything else about it. I know that Jenna's mom Jan has it all organized but the actual team members aren't really communicating... most of them have participated in a relay for life with Jenna before and know how it all works but I have only done it through college and am not really sure what to expect or how to prepare. Ah well I will let you all know how it goes later this weekend.

I am almost done re-reading A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. I remembered the general plot line of the story but it still manages to creep me out in parts. It is set in England around the turn of the century which is a time period i LOVE so that is a complete plus. And in a way it is a more mature version of the Tamora Pierce series that I loved when I was in middle school. The story is incredibly compelling and I cannot wait to read the sequel (which i haven't read). I just heard that it is going to be made into a movie that should be out in 2010. I am a little apprehensive about that because i fear it could either be completely turned into a thriller where as in the story it is a more coming of age story than anything. The main character is so well developed - it's a joy to read after the last monstrosity that i read. hehe. I only have 35 pages left so if my opinion changes I will let you know but as of know I greatly recommend A Great and Terrible Beauty!!!

Much Love and Hugs,
Chrissy
