Apologies and Preparations

First of I would like to apologize for my lack of posts in August. I wish I had some amazing excuse but in reality I took some time away from blogging as well as vlogging to make the most of the rest of my summer. And might I say that that was a great idea??? I can't remember the last time I had so much fun in one month! I spent a TON of time with my MHS crew and they are amazing. Just yesterday we were marveling over the fact that Laura, Kaitlin and I have been friends since 5th grade... that is sooo insane!!! and awesome!!

Just the other day the three of us went on an adventure to a bakery called the Cupcake - on University Ave. in Minneapolis and it was seriously amazing!!! They sell dozens of different types of cupcakes as well as every coffee drink imaginable and it was so much fun! We went at like 8PM and were the only people in the whole place and were joking with all the guys working there and it was just a super fun way to end the summer! Also after that we managed to get lost a couple of times in search of a Holiday gas station so i could steal my sister's gas money and fill up my car. hehe! This is when we bonded over my seriously geeky taste in music. Even having known these girls for going on 10 years - there are always new things to find out!! (and i am now making them a ridiculously geeky cd complete with TROCK - dr. who music and of course WROCK - HP music and a little All Caps - cause it's awesome!)

I have continued to read and have actually been waiting ot post this until I finished Rebel Angels by Libba Bray (finished it last week..opps). Which definitely lived up to the first in the series - A Great and Terrible Beauty. I just heard that a movie was being made of the first book and it's scheduled ot come out in 2010 so I look forward to seeing it on screen though i really do think it will loose a lot of the suspense and the imagination of the reader that is required while reading the actual text.

As for reading in the coming school year - I will seriously try to continue on with my list but I feel it will probably fail.. While packing I threw in about 4 books but who knows if I will have time.. but more on packing later in the post.

On Tuesday I saw Julie/Julia with my mom. And I absolutely loved it! I dont' talk about cooking much in this blog becuase really it is devoted to my reading but I really should have done that more but in short I really love to cook and am slightly - well not so slightly obsessed with the Food Network. I am sooo sad that we do not have that channel as school - though in some ways that will probably be a good thing :). Anyways the movie was great - i love Meryl Streep and Amy Adams so really the movie just added to my admiration toward them. I really want to read the book about it and for sure I will review on here. In the spirit of the cooking movie and trying new things - I made peanut butter cupcakes with a cocoa frosting and they were fabulous - well they are - i have like 10 left. I found an awesome recipe that only made a dozen which is perfect for my family. Though I put it as a status on facebook and now a bunch of my friends want me to bring some up to school - might have to make another batch this weekend ;).

And yes, I am moving back to school in 3 DAYS!! I cannot believe it is already here! That's not to say that I won't be sad to see summer go by but really I would love to get this semester over with cause I know it's going to be insane! I have done most of my packing already and just have to get a few grocery type things before I leave as well as a longer cable wire for my tv... oh and a new purse! (there is a super cute plaid one at Maurices). But if my mom and dad and I can make it through this weekend and move without killing each other then I will call it a success. I just keep reminding my mom that I will be home in 3 weeks again for the Rascal Flatts concert so she shouldn't get all emotional - though i'm pretty sure that request is a lost cause as well...

It's 1AM now so I should probably go to bed so I can get up and do target runs tomorrow...

Much Love,
Chrissy
